Fez : If you want to explore the City of Fes, we recommend – just walk around on your own. The well known Medina of Fes is the biggest pedestrian zone in the world, so that you will meet there a lot of donkeys, mules and also people you carry their handcarts. That’s the best way to explore the medieval capital of Morocco. The old Town of Fes is the best preserved old city in the whole arabic region.
You have not been to Fes, without taking a Photo of a tannery :
One of the most things Fes is most famous for are the tanneries. If you want to visit the multicolored leather dying pits you can either take one of the “guides” who will offer their help for a little tip or go to the leather shop next to tanneries. From there you have a pretty good view, but be prepared, that the guys there want you to buy some goods in exchange. If you have the chance to enter the tannery, take care that you will were shoes.
If you slightly bad? For those who do not withstand the evil rankness of the tannery, it is recommended to take something against the smell, where you can smell on during the tour.
A brief History of Fes :
Since 1981 Fes is named a UNESCO Heritage. The City was founded in the 9th century and had its height in the 13th/14th centuries, when Fez became the capital of Morocco (before it was Marrakech). In 1912 the political capital was transferred to Rabat, but Fes has hold its status as the center of Culture and Spirituality of Morocco. The most beautiful things to see in Fes are Madrasas, Fondouks, Residences, Mosques and wonderful fountains.
